Installation & Safety Information
Diesel heaters are fuel-burning appliances and must be installed correctly and safely.
Diesel Heaters NI supplies products and technical information but does not accept responsibility for installation work carried out by customers or third parties.
It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the installation to ensure that the heater and all associated components are installed correctly, safely and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and any applicable regulations.
Important installation points
Particular care must be taken with:
- Exhaust routing
- Combustion air intake
- Fuel lines and fuel connections
- Electrical wiring and fusing
- Heater mounting
- Hot-air ducting
- Clearance from combustible materials
- Ventilation
- Prevention of exhaust gases entering the vehicle or occupied area
Exhaust and combustion air
The heater exhaust must be routed safely outside the vehicle or occupied space.
Exhaust gases must never be allowed to enter sleeping, living or enclosed areas.
The combustion air intake and exhaust system must be installed correctly and must not be blocked or positioned in a way that could create a safety risk.
Electrical supply
The heater must be connected to a suitable electrical supply using correctly rated wiring, fuses and connections.
Incorrect wiring, reverse polarity, poor connections or inadequate voltage can damage the heater and may create a safety risk.
Fuel system
Fuel lines, pumps and connections must be installed securely and checked for leaks.
Only the correct fuel type should be used.
Fuel system components must be routed and positioned away from excessive heat and other potential hazards.
Moisture and weather protection
Diesel heaters and electrical components must be protected from excessive water, moisture and weather exposure unless they are specifically designed for that environment.
Professional installation
If you are unsure about any part of the installation, we strongly recommend having the heater fitted or inspected by a suitably competent installer.
Diesel Heaters NI cannot accept liability for damage, injury, loss or faults caused by incorrect installation, misuse, modification or failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Nothing in this notice excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
